Głównym zastosowaniem sieci typu Token Bus były środowiska przemysłowo – produkcyjne, jednak współcześnie technologia ta nie jest już wykorzystywana w praktyce.

Specyficznym przypadkiem sieci Token Bus jest sytuacja w której topologia sieci uwzględnia grupy stacji roboczych, które są podłączone za pomocą długich kabli głównych (ang. trunk cables).
